
Wisdom and Compassion are central themes in Mahayana Buddhism. This course will emphasize the day-to-day practice of mindfulness and how it supports the cultivation of wisdom as understood within several Buddhist schools. It will be tentative and experimental, because some Buddhist versions of “wisdom” easily elude the ordinary mind. But perhaps it can prepare participants for moments in which advanced insight may spontaneously emerge during ordinary life. The course is suitable for beginners, but open to anyone interested in the subject.
