Novice monks from CTTB visited Berkeley Buddhist Monastery
Learning how to speak dharma, attend the medication session, and join the Avatamsaka Sutra lecture dharma assembly in the evening.
After the lecture, they starts the two hour drive and head back to CTTB

At the end of the Avatamsaka Sutra lecture (at 1:33':37), Rev. Heng Sure worked with Old Monk the puppet to encourage novice monks:

老和尚布偶勉勵沙彌們說
“要發大菩提心,早成佛道"
Old Monk the puppet encourages novice monks saying:
"They should make great resolve and become Buddhas soon"

實法師問老和尚
"如果問你的話, 你為什麼要發大菩提心早成佛道呢?"
(Rev. Heng Sure asked the Old Monk, 
"If asking you, why did you make great resolve to become a Buddha soon?")

老和尚說
"眾生太苦啊
顛倒無名啊
業障深重
所以呢
你不發菩提心早成佛道呢
大家都在那兒
永遠都離不開三界

就像火宅
你沒有救火通
就在火宅裡邊
燒死了

可憐可憐
太苦

所以呢
你們早成佛道呢
那你可以為你媽媽講法
她都可以跟你出那個火宅"

"You are supposed to leave the triple realm
It's like a burning house
And if you can speak Dharma for your mother
She can leave the burning house with you."

We shared stories about goodness from mother, from saving chickens, from words inspiring friends to become vegetarian
